L4 L5 L6 is a project paying homage to my years at university, through the reusing and repurposing of receipts. All of the receipts that I have used in this project are from my years at uni. The name L4 L5 L6 refers to levels 4, 5 and 6, which are the levels of education that I completed at university, whilst also refering to Liverpool postcodes.
As someone who is very sentimental, I keep lots of items that most people would probably just throw away. A sweet wrapper from the first time I went to Yum Cha, an Asian inspired restaurant on Lark Lane, with my mum and sister. A beer mat from the first time my flatmates and I did pub golf. For me, everything tells a story. Which is partly why I have collected almost every receipt I have received from my three years at university.

The receipt from every trip to Rudy’s, a receipt from Rennies, every bus ticket. Receipts are probably some of the most throwaway things you can get. If you don’t need the receipt for potentially returning an item, they have no value. I have always seen them as something that can be used and reused. I have used receipts to journal, made them into sketchbooks and used them as paper. For this project I wanted to give them aesthetic value so that other people can appreciate them.
